Saturdays and Sundays had three shows each day at 2, 6 & 9.30 pm
Other days had two shows at 6pm and 9.30 pm

On the sets one morning with the camera on the hero suddenly
embraced KANAN and planted a kiss on her lips on her lips.
Taken aback thoroughly, she pushed the hero back thus spoiling
the first attempted take of a kissing sequence in a Bengali film.
She did question the director about keeping her in the dark about
the plan and Jyotish Bandyopadhyay’s reply was that she would
never had agreed to perform  if told beforehand……..

 

The credit for introducing the play back system generally goes to
Bhagyachakra (1935)-however, attempts had started much earlier
to use something of this nature…….Hiren Bose sang for hero
Joy Narayan in JORE BARAT, with the former in front of the
microphone but outside the camera frame while the latter moved
his lips in front of the camera  …….

With the advent of sound films or talkies, as they were then called,
many of the leading artistes lost their jobs having failed to pass the
dreaded voice test-KANAN was among those selected and although
her own voice did not sound good enough to her, the authorities
selected her………..
